This website presents the work conducted by the Green Chemistry program at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. It includes a nice summary of the definition of Green Chemistry, it's history and FAQs. It introduces its group of over 25 Faculty, Researchers and Collaborators. The site also includes a summary of the program's research, educational and outreach programs and a bibliaography of publication. UML's Green Chemistry Program is an SKN Worldwide Collaboration Partner for its Sustainable Chemistry Network SChemNet.
Link University of Massachusetts Lowell Toxics Use Reduction Institute
The UML Toxics Use Reduction Institute (TURI) researches, tests and promotes pollution prevention methods and alternatives to toxic chemicals used in Massachusetts industries and communities. Located at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, TURI is part of the State's TURA program. This website link contains sections where you will find tools to reduce toxic chemical use at the source. "Programs" for industry, community and government research and support -- including networks and research consortia, environmental management systems, lead-free electronics, grants, and projects to measure and improve. "Toxic Chemicals" for useful groupings of chemicals of concern with fact sheets, health and safety facts, and Massachusetts policy and programs. "Alternatives Assessment" for methods for planning, designing and selecting safer alternative chemicals, materials and products "Training" for courses, workshops and curricula "Laboratory" for performance testing services and results database "Library" for reference services, TURI publications and extensive catalog Turi collaborates closely with UML's Green Chemistry Program.
