Bill Clinton plans private summit on global woes
- Former U.S. President Bill Clinton said it is unrealistic to think governments can solve all of the world's problems, and will hold a conference in New York to examine what the private sector can do in dealing with a number of pressing global challenges, including poverty, corruption, climate change and religious and ethnic reconciliation. The Clinton Global Initiative, timed to coincide with the United Nations General Assembly meeting in September, will ask attendees to state specific goals that must be fulfilled by the next meeting in 2006.
