Welcome to the Sustainability Knowledge Network
We use this SKN-CW home page to appraise you of our progress, performance and plans for continual improvement.
Welcome!
Welcome to the Sustainability Knowledge Network Collaborative Workspace (SKN-CW). This unique service integrates traditional knowledge management, Web 2.0 and social networking information technologies; content management; and team, stakeholder and community collaborative workspaces. We work with our members to establish general and workspace specific values, missions and objectives that interconnect and interoperate with each other to collectively advance a more sustainable, just and joyful world.
The SKN-CW is grateful that you have chosen us as one of your trusted and valued internet destinations for deepening your sustainability awareness and understanding and most importantly to facilitate your individual actions and enabling you to more effectively apply your precious time and unique talents toward one or more of our self organized collaborative workspace community opportunities.
Our diverse range of workspaces include: small project teams, Stakeholder focused enterprises and multi-stakeholder community of interest channels. We know that the SKN-CW is one of many excellent, like-minded, web services and communities which are already progressing along their own sustainability aligned journeys. We encourage and support our workspace project, stakeholder and community members to more broadly engage with and leverage this universe of complimentary internet website services, user groups and social network communities. Our ability to effectively learn from and contribute to these complimentary internet communities is expected to be one of our most valuable and impactful services.
What's New?
On October 2nd we celebrate the publication of The Sustainable Enterprise Fieldbook: When It All Comes Together. The SKN-CW is proud and honored to host the Sustainable Enterprise Living Fieldbook and making this workspace our featured SKN-CW knowledge-base service and the core community for interconnecting our diverse sustainability knowledge repositories and practitioners.
How are we progressing?
As of September 30, 2008, there were:
- Over 700 SKN-CW registrants and members.
- Over 4,000 news articles, full text reference articles, presentations, documents, videos and website links loaded.
We invite you to explore, engage with and add to:
- The Sustainable Enterprise Living Fieldbook our core collaborative workspace community advancing the human side of sustainability and creating efficient community interconnections "where it all comes together".
- Over 50 public and private Project Workspaces;
- Ten SKN Affiliated Partner & Community Channels;
- Six "Basic" Stakeholder Channels; and
- Seven SKN Supported Channels.
Project workspaces are in use by multi-stakeholder teams, companies and non-profit organizations. Project workspaces allow virtual teams to self organize their project tasks; share ideas and progress notes via team blogs and communications folders; create their own project specific reference libraries; Coordinate project stakeholder mapping, intelligence and communications; and effectively engage and motivate the social network of people most relevant to the success of their projects.
SKN Community of Interest Channels have been established for a variety of SKN Partner organizations and multi-stakeholder initiatives including: The Sustainable Chemistry Network (SChemNet); The Sustainable Communities Network (SComNet); The Sustainable Buildings Network (SBuildNet) and our core community of interest supporting users of the Sustainable Enterprise Fieldbook use of Materials (The Sustainable Chemistry Network The Center for Environmental and Economic Partnerships (CEEP); Fairleigh Dickinson University's Institute for Sustainable Enterprise; Innovest Strategic Value Advisors and The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection among others.
"Basic" Stakeholder Channels have been established to facilitate Stakeholder intelligence and communications including: Business Stakeholders (SBizNet); Government and Policy Stakeholders (SGovNet); Education Stakeholders (SEduNet); Investors (SInvNet); Social Entrepreneurs and Non-profits (NGONet); and for Individual, Consumer and Spiritual aligned Values Stakeholder organizations (SValNet).
SKN Supported Channels provide links to portals managed by SKN supported organizations and social networks. These affiliated portals offer incredibly useful content, tools and contacts relevant to the sustainability advancing work of SKN members.
What's Next?
We are currently enhancing the portal's blog, content management and member management applications and integrating new e-commerce and member social networking functionality.
With your input and the collective participation of our SKN communities, organizations, and individual members supported by our team of experts and content editors, The SKN-CW will fullfill its mission and provide impactful services for advancing Sustainability and a better quality of life for all!
I welcome all comments, suggestions and feedback!
