Dear Dr. Gerard Farias,
Congratulations! We are very pleased to inform you that your paper proposal,
"Pioneering a New Energy Paradigm: Alleviating "Energy Poverty" in the World", has been accepted for a live presentation at the "Business as an Agent of World Benefit: Management Knowledge Leading Positive Change"
Global Forum at Case Western Reserve University on Sunday-Wednesday October 22-25, 2006. Please inform your co-authors and extend our congratulations.
We had an unprecedented response to our call for papers, receiving over 400 excellent papers, stories, and workshop proposals. Given this tremendous response, we were able to accept less than 1 out of 4 submissions for live presentation at the Global Forum in Cleveland. As your paper is both excellent and offers a very interesting perspective that will greatly add to the dialogue at the Forum, we are happy to offer you the opportunity to present your paper as a live session and as a virtual session.
One registration space has been reserved for your paper. If you have co-authors, they will be given priority for any remaining spaces available.
Further registration details are below.
At the live Forum in Cleveland, you are invited to present your paper in a unique "World Café" format. This format is designed to encourage participants to integrate and build on the ideas of their colleagues.
You will be a part of a 90 minutes session with approximately 5 other authors, all focusing on a similar theme. To open the session, each author will present a brief (2 minute) description of their work. Then, at individual roundtable discussions, each author, together with a self-selecting subset of the delegates, will briefly (approximately 5-6 minutes) overview their paper and then discuss with the group the ideas it generates (20 minutes total/roundtable). Following the first roundtable, delegates will move on to a second roundtable, giving each presenter two opportunities for in depth discussion of their work. Please note that this format does not allow for PowerPoint or other computer-based projection. Authors, however, are welcome to bring copies of their papers and/or any other handouts that they believe will facilitate discussion of their work and its implications.
Following the two roundtables, the entire group with discuss the ideas raised by the 6 papers. The goal for these sessions is to allow all delegates to become familiar with the most import ideas in the field and to begin to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges. Broader trends will be reported back to the plenary sessions.
In addition to your live presentation, we would also like to include your paper in the virtual Global Forum that is being held in conjunction with the face-to-face event in Cleveland. Presenting at both the "local" Forum in Cleveland and the global (virtual) Forum will give your ideas greater exposure and encourage further dialogue among the 3000 delegates expected to join the Forum on-line from around the world.
Session schedules are currently being finalized. We will send you further details on your virtual (global) and in-person (local) presentations via e-mail later this summer.
Space at the live Global Forum in Cleveland is limited to 400 participants. Considerably more than 400 people have already expressed interest in attending. As noted above, because you are a selected presenter, a space is being held for you until July 14th. To confirm your participation and to reserve a place at the "live" Forum, please register on-line by no later than July 14th at http://www.bawbglobalforum.org/register. If for any reason you will not be able to attend the "live" Forum in Cleveland on October 22-25, 2006, but will only be able to participate in the virtual Forum, please register for the virtual Forum at http://www.bawbglobalforum.org/about/virtualforum AND notify us by email by no later than July 14th (so we can release your spot at the "live" Forum to another participant).
