Doug Cohen's Built a Community Email!

Copy of Doug Cohen's email of April 6th. I copied it here as an archive and message for new members of the future. Bill

Greetings:

Guess What?: We thought we were going to a Conference. We built a Community.

This community is alive. Some, quite a few of you/us, have already harvested a great deal from not only our experiences in Atlanta but from the process of our connections becoming relationships of purpose.
Not only are there 'conversations for possibility' underway, there are already concrete plans and initiatives in motion.

For those that have not had such a direct experience of this community thus far, just know that it is very much underway, will be available to touch, build, check-in with, tap for knowledge, grow with both personally and professionally.

Scott and Doug have had meetings with a global youth Leadership, Ethics and Character Institute who had a representative at our session. They are excited to bring some of the core methods and models of Youth Leadership development and Do-Right into their ongoing programs both in the US and overseas. Doug is speaking twice at Georgia Tech during Green Week next Mon. April 16. and we will continue to build Atlanta as a regional hub of Youth Leadership in Sustainability for the US Partnership Decade of Education efforts. You are Invited!

Adam, Kachina and Megan, who visited our group at the end, met in N.
Carolina last weekend for exploration of collaboration. Both Dana and Jade/Nick had meetings with the Enviro Clubs on their campuses fueled with the new energy from Atlanta.

What else is happening? Several of us as partnerhing with Glen and Carl to help design and enhance thru networking the early June Digital Earth Youth and Main event in Calif. Several SoL participants are planning to attend.

And there has been a suggestion for a Summer Reunion, in the greater NY area. Watch here for news. Or shall we start an E- Newsletter?

We will be doing audio and internet video interviews to continue to capture the learning and personal growth statements from all the students and young professionals. And please contribute a 1-2 page Reflections essay on the following: Who you were going into Atlanta (brief intro description); Highlights of the Week, Key Learnings and Take-Aways including your intentions to follow-up on SoL Atlanta with what specific Actions?

Call, write, IM, text, dream, reach out, throw a party, go quiet, go crazy, and go safely on your life and learning journey.

In Alliance,
doug
